CPA New Curriculum

To become a Student
To become a student-member of the association, you will have to match the following criteria:
1st Award Foundation in Public Accounting (FPA):
- Completed 12 grade / A-level education or possess accredited equivalence.
- Possess 01 years professional experience, before/during/after qualification
- Commerce or Non-Commerce background
2nd Award Certificate in Public Accounting (CertPA):
- Completed 14 years education or accredited equivalence or qualified FPA
- Possess 02 years professional experience, before/during/after qualification
- Commerce or Non-Commerce background
3rd Award Diploma in Public Accounting (DPA):
- Completed 16 years education or accredited equivalence or qualified CertPA
- Possess 03 years professional experience, before/during/after qualification
- Accounting or Non-Accounting background
4th Award Advanced Diploma in Public Accounting (ADPA):
- Completed 16 years education or accredited equivalence or qualified DPA
- Possess 04 years professional experience, before/during/after qualification
- Accounting / Commerce background
- Membership of any other accredited professional body
Superior Award Certified Public Accountant (CPA):
- Completed 16 years education or equivalent or qualified ADPA
- Have two 05 years professional experience (02 years during / 03 years after qualifying)
- Hold a professional designation (qualified or part-qualified), e.g., CA, CMA, CPA, CCA, CIA, CGA from a recognized professional body
- Accounting / Commerce background
To become a CPA
A student who successfully completes the following is awarded the CPA® designation:
- Pass the FOLLOWING subjects / credit hours or have claimed credit under Accredited Prior Learning (APL) or Credit Transfer Facility (CTF) …
- 1st Award FPA: 6 subjects /36 credits (6 credits from foundation Knowledge Pillar)
- 2nd Award CertPA: 6 subjects /36 credits (6 credits from certificate Knowledge Pillar)
- 3rd Award DPA: 6 subjects /36 credits (6 credits from diploma Knowledge Pillar)
- 4th Award ADPA: 6 subjects /36 credits (6 credits from advanced Knowledge Pillar)
- Superior Award CPA: 4 levels / 24 subjects / 150 credits (Must pass competency level)
- Satisfy the competency level test’s minimum benchmark
- Have completed 150 credits under new / old curriculum and/or under APL or CTF
- Satisfy the experience requirement, and
- Adhere to the code of ethics and standard professional conduct.
To become a Practicing Professional (Practicing Certificate)
After receiving the CPA designation, a member can apply for Practicing Certificate upon fulfillment of the following conditions:
- Complete the self-assessment form and questionnaire “Am I ready”
- Application on prescribed form to mention the potential working area of professional interest,
- Maintain the CPA designation in good standings,
- Satisfy the 03 years CPD (Continuous Professional Development) requirement, and
- Personal Indemnity Insurance (PII), if any, required under applied working area.
